What is Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is a refined form of dermabrasion-a surgical procedure for repairing major scars that may involve freezing the skin followed by mechanical removal of the epidermis and upper dermis with a high-speed wire brush.  In microdermabrasion, either small, hard, gritty particles are blown against the skin to remove the epidermis and upper dermis or an instrument that uses suction to hold the skin against industrial diamonds embedded in metal while it is moved around to remove them.  Think sandblasting and sand papering.  Both techniques initiate a wound healing response that accelerates collagen formation by stimulating fibroblast activity. 

How does Crystal Reneu Peel compare to Microdermabrasion?
It refines microdermabrasion just as that procedure refined dermabrasion.  If you have ever refinished wood, you know that you start with a relatively coarse sandpaper and work your way down to very fine grit.  If you are polishing optics, you start with super fine grit suspended in a solution.  Crystal Reneu Peel consists of very small particles suspended in a fluid.  As you apply it, the two work together to remove dead epidermis cells and make tiny nicks in dermis cells that stimulates the wound response while leaving a smoother surface behind.  It may take more applications to get to the same level but the cost per application is pennies compared to an office procedure. Crystal Reneu Peels can improve the appearance of sun damaged skin, fine wrinkles, freckles, brown spots, age spots, enlarged pores, oily skin, and acne prone skin. How many treatments are necessary?
Crystal Reneu Peel produces gradual results and requires multiple treatments. Typically, we recommend a series of six treatments for superficial conditions such as shallow age spots and large pores. Tougher conditions like fine wrinkles and sun damage will require more treatments. There is no limit to the number of Crystal Peels that can be performed.

What are the possible side effects?
Minimal temporary redness or flushing may be present after an Crystal Reneu Peel. If multiple passes are used to try to remove deeper trouble spots, some minimal scabbing may result. It is usually recommended that multiple superficial treatments be performed to avoid this adverse effect. Rarely, temporary or permanent changes in the skin’s color can result from Crystal Reneu Peel.
